Geneva 2015: Mansory loads up the Lamborghini Huracan with more power, carbon fiber

Mansory drenched the Lamborghini Huracan in carbon fiber and cranked the engine to more than 1,000 hp. The result? Something called the Torofeo, which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.

The name refers to toro, which is Spanish for bull, and the Super Trofeo Motorsports line. Mansory added new air intakes up front to improve cooling, widened the body, made the wheel arches more prominent and gave the supercar new mirrors. There's also a new rear spoiler and diffuser that enhance air flow. The tuner says the carbon-fiber pieces are even lighter than Lamborghini's stock parts. There are also enhanced daytime running lights as a passive safety feature.

Under the hood, the 5.2-liter V10 gets two turbochargers and is rebuilt with new pistons, camshafts, connecting rods, a new fuel system and a water-cooled intercooler. There's also an upgraded exhaust system. The enhancements lift the Huracan to a claimed-1,000 hp, up considerably from the usual 600-plus hp.

The cabin is upgraded with more leather, Alcantara-covered seats and a new steering wheel. It all rolls on forged alloy wheels that measure 20 inches in front and 21 in the rear.

Sound good? Mansory also brought plenty of other cars, including a slightly less powerful Lamborghini, to Geneva, as well.

A radical, new interpretation of the Lamborghini Huracán is the latest development from the premium manufacturer MANSORY. Referring back to the Spanish "Toro" meaning bull and the Super Trofeo Motorsports Range, MANSORY have christened the sports car TOROFEO. Radical changes have been made to the body, engine and interior, making the "little" Lambo a real MANSORY car.

And as you would expect from MANSORY, they didn't hold back in their use of carbon fibre. Where Lamborghini thought they had maximised the use of carbon fibre, MANSORY have added an extra touch based on their core competency. No other company in the market is as closely linked to the use of carbon fibre as MANSORY. These specialists manufacture and process this ultra-light, extremely strong material taken from the world of motorsport in their own in-house autoclaves, which means they don't have to rely on suppliers. This gives them complete freedom in the scope, fit and design of components.

The best proof of this can be seen in the completely newly designed carbon fibre body. There are new highlights both in terms of appearance and engineering. For example, the striking air intakes in the new front apron optimise the flow of fresh air to the cooler. Alongside the specially developed front lip, this leads to enhanced downforce for better road holding at the limits of performance. New, particularly the bright daytime running lights in a crystal design, which also deliver something extra in terms of passive safety.

From the side, the striking side skirts, the newly designed mirror housings and the enhanced wheel arches bear the unmistakable MANSORY hallmark. At the front, the body is 30 millimetres wider, and a proud 40 millimetres at the back. Function and appearance go hand in hand here too. The vigorous rear spoiler and the diffuser built into the new rear apron are responsible for the perfect channelling of the flow of air under the car.

All of these technical enhancements were needed, as the TOROFEO significantly surpasses the performance results of the standard Huracán. In fact, MANSORY have rebuilt the 5.2 litre capacity V10 engine. Kourosh Mansory's team have installed pistons, connecting rods, bearings, camshafts, a water-cooled intercooler and an entire fuel system, and they have also built-in two bearing-mounted MANSORY turbochargers. This means the TOROFEO has a completely newly aligned exhaust system from the engine to the stainless steel tailpipes in the rear apron. The result of this extensive conversion process is an increase in performance which even demanding connoisseurs would not have expected: MANSORY have driven peak power up to an incredible 1.000 hp (919 kW) at 8.250 rpm (Series: 610 hp at 8.250 rpm). The engineering division have to limit maximum torque electronically at 1.000 Newton metres. The four wheel drive sports car takes a mere 2,7 seconds to race from 0 to 100 km/h and only stops accelerating beyond 340 km/h.

To transmit the power generated by the completely re-worked V10 cylinder to the road, MANSORY have placed their faith in forged alloy wheels size 9x20 and12.5x21 inch with tyres 245/30ZR20 at the front and 325/25ZR21 at the back.

It goes without saying that MANSORY have carried out the interior work in their own in-house saddlery. As with the aerodynamics components, the enhancements to performance and the wheels, MANSORY only thinks in superlatives when it comes to the interior refinements. The leather alone combines properties which normally demand compromise, as it is extremely durable, yet as supple as a leather glove, The leather and Alcantara covered seats and the dashboard harmonise wonderfully with the new sports airbag steering wheel, the aluminium foot pedals and the countless carbon fibre applications.

Mansory G63 AMG Sahara Edition: Geneva 2015

We aren't sure if it's an unwritten rule or not, but it seems like European tuners are wholly incapable of building cars whose aesthetics don't offend people blessed with the gift of sight. Take Mansory, for example. The Swiss tuner has turned its hand to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, a vehicle that on it's own is not exactly a visual stunner. Functional sure, but not exactly beautiful. But with Mansory wielding the design pen, the result is, well, yeah. It's not great.

This is the Mansory G63 AMG Sahara Edition, and surprisingly, its camouflaged paint scheme is one of its least obnoxious qualities. But its grille, headlights, hood scoop, roof-mounted lights and rear spoiler just don't do this Mercedes any favors. And for some reason, the tuning firm has decided to put two different styles of 22-inch alloys. The driver's side isn't horrible, although we can't say the same about passenger-side hoops.

The interior treatment is nothing compared to the cabin, though. Falcons. There are falcons in the headrests. No, we don't know why either. The avian theme isn't limited to the headrests, though, as Mansory has added wings to the seats, dash and door panels, all the while continuing on with camouflage color scheme on certain interior surfaces.

Of course, if you can live with the design decisions, you'll be getting a ludicrously potent G-Wagen. Mansory has boosted the 5.5-liter, biturbocharged V8 to 828 horsepower while it's actually been limited to 737 pound-feet of torque. We aren't sure what the addition of 292 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque does to the G63's run to 60, although we're betting the Mansory version is a lot quick than the 5.3-second stock time.

Mercedes-Maybach Pullman S600 limousine to debut at Geneva 2015

The 2016 W222-generation Pullman will feature a different exterior layout compared to the outgoing model, making use of the Mercedes-Maybach architecture.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the first images of the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach Pullman S600 limousine prior to its debut at the Geneva motor show next month. The four-door, six-seat model has been in development for the last year and a half, and like its immediate predecessors it will offer 2+2+2 seating complete with a middle row of rear-facing seats.

Positioned above the Mercedes-Maybach S600, the Pullman will be powered by the 6.0-liter V12 found in the S600 -- good for 523 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. Like its predecessors, the Pullman will be offered in unarmored and armored form, with the heavier version expected to provide VR9-level ballistic protection, as on the factory S600 Guard model. The unarmored version should start at around $567,000, or half a million Euros, while the armored version is likely to start at around $1 million, as with previous-generation Pullmans.

"Quite apart from providing stately and stylish seating for high-ranking passengers in the comfort and spaciousness for which it is famed, the new Mercedes-Maybach Pullman is of course the embodiment of exclusivity at its highest level," said Ola Källenius, member of the Daimler AG Management Board responsible for sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz cars. "One can sense the significance and greatness of it in every detail."

G20 limousines will cost an absolute bomb

The Federal Government has ordered a $16 million fleet of bombproof limousines for the G20 Summit in Brisbane in November.

But rather than buy the vehicles for $1 million each, it has rented them for the meeting of world leaders at a cost of $1.8 million, or $112,500 apiece.

Although BMW is poised to secure the contract to replace the Prime Minister's fleet of aging armoured Holdens, rival German car maker Mercedes-Benz won the tender to supply 16 vehicles for the G20 Summit of foreign heads of state, finance ministers and other dignitaries.

But not everyone will ride in them: US president Barrack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin are said to be bringing their own security vehicles.

The bombproof Benzes can withstand firepower from an AK47 assault rifle, are fitted with nail-proof tyres, and have their own onboard oxygen systems in case of a chemical weapon attack.

They also have night vision technology so they can see in the dark, projecting an image of the road ahead on the widescreen digital dashboard.

Unlike the cars in James Bond movies, however, there are no "gun-sights", rotating number plates or other dirty tricks, such as spraying oil on the road to cause other cars to skid.

The S-Class Guard looks almost identical to the standard Mercedes limousine but weighs more than four tonnes -- more than twice its regular weight -- because of the added armour and thickened glass. However, it can still make a quick getaway because it is powered by a massive V12 engine.

More than half the cars that will be used during the G20 Summit have already been shipped to Australia and are in the final stages of preparation.

Because the cars are hand-built in limited numbers, there will be a mix of left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive vehicles used at the G20 Summit in Brisbane.

The Federal Government will provide specially-trained drivers for the event.

They'll be hoping to avoid a repeat of the embarrassment when US President Barrack Obama's limousine, known as "The Beast", wedged its belly on a steep driveway during a visit to Ireland in May 2011.

"The Beast" has also proven to be tricky to park, having been caught on camera attempting a three-point turn at 10 Downing Street during President Obama's visit to London in 2009.
